A new series of carving
and furniture classes for beginner and intermediate level woodworkers are offered once a year. The
beginner level classes intentionally have a small number of students to give each student considerable
individual attention while learning basic carving. Other small furniture
projects are offered using primarily hand tools to develop skills needed to ensure success
in advancing to the more advanced furniture classes. One on one classes are also
offered.
The photographs displayed below are examples of past advanced
furniture classes that
have been successfully completed by students who have taken the classes.
The Newport Kneehole desk completed by one of Mr. Slack's students was featured in gallery section
of the April 2006 issue Fine of Woodworking.

How to sign up for classes:
Beginner carving and wood working Classes
Beginner carving classes are open to
anyone who wants to enroll. The classes don’t have to be taken in any
particular sequence. However the Pie crust tray and Ribbon and scroll tray classes require that the student
have some carving experience or have taken at least one beginner level carving
classes. Special exceptions to this rule will be made by the instructor
based upon the students past wood working experience.
To enroll in beginner classes, the student must pay for the
class at the time of enrollment. If cancellation is required, notice must be
given two weeks prior to the class starting date to receive a tuition refund.
Advanced Furniture Classes
Advanced furniture classes fill quickly.
Enrollment acceptance is based upon the student’s woodworking and carving experience as well as
having access to a wood working shop.
A $350.00 non
refundable deposit is required to secure enrollment in the advanced furniture
classes.
